If the electric company just came out and shut off service and turned it back on after my request without checking and inquiring about what I was doing then they would be negligent in their actions.Part of the business.

In this case it sounds like it's her negligence that caused the problem and she should have to reimburse you for the repair. It was her fault there was no heat and if she didn't like it she should have simply PAID the bill.

Professionals understand that they are responsible for the loss of use of a property due to negligence or failure to perform as agreed. If a contractor tells me work will be done in a week, I'll usually allow another 20% or 3 days in this case. 90 days will get them 3 more weeks, that is plenty of time for the CG to cover an issue.Toward the end of some jobs, when there is not much money left in a job you may find a CG who starts moving on to other jobs, they may tend to slack off, dragging their feet finishing a punch list.

OTH, if someone doesn't pay miuch attention to their business, they operate in a care free manner, are often negligent in other aspects of life, then doing all you can do to hide out might be a good way to go.This public liability razz is way over hiped IMO and insurance is your best solution.Hey, not implying our OP is paranoid, I know he has good reason to be concerned from other posts, but don't take legal advice from a CPA and don't ask your attorney to set up your accounting systems.
