Stuff like this ruins friendships when one's perception of their own worth exceeds what it really is.

I never imagined that I'd learn anything, and it never crossed my mind that it would result in friendships, partnerships, investors, deals, and an increase to my bottom line.

If you have a hard time separating the two friendships and professional relationships I wouldn't recommend doing it. 

I could see this as ruining friendships, so I'm reluctant to do that.

Sure, ultimately everyone wants to make money, but if two different deals with the same potential profit are proposed by two different business people, often times the decision maker will go with the person that they have a friendship/relationship with.
