The wife and I are thinking about doing some house hacking in the Edmonton  area.We currently live in a new house we put 20% down on and I have a condo I put 20% down on to.We would like to have a place with a legal suite built worth about $480k with 5% down and have the other two being rented out.

REIN just published their 10 Best Cities to invest in Alberta report and classified Edmonton and Calgary in the middle of the slump making long term cashflowing buy and holds, excellent options.

I really can't speak as to how Edmonton is, though I suspect it's quite similar. 

But I just moved out to Edmonton Alberta Canada from Ontario, I am now apprenticing Automotive Mechanic, 16$ and hour first year with insane wages for 4th and 5th year 29.50$ an hour...I have just got an apartment 3 months ago and so far its going well , Im 19 , have an apartment, car, all bills paid early, etc..absoulutly no debt and average 2500-3000 in a high interest savings bank account all the time..
