In my market (South Texas) the property taxes and property insurance is having a severe impact on the smaller owners, who do not have 30 year financing along with the housing assistance components, are in a dark place and they will naturally expect the (us) property managers to work like dogs and squeeze blood out of turnips for the cash flow.

Without knowing more details about the specifics of the project being proposed as it relates to your property, it's hard to say if there are any obvious big red flags that could negatively impact your property's future value.That being said, I would try to find out as much information as possible about the new apartment building's design and layout - the two big things I would try to ascertain would be the location of the garage entrances/exits, as well as the location of any outdoor amenity spaces (pools, terraces, dog runs, etc).

When a buyer knows they want to buy and buy again fairly soon they need to target the homes in order.Bank loopholes which cannot be questioned; Buying smaller home first, then buying bigger home (Sqft/GLA) we review it as growing family, need space for office, dogs etc..

Double dipping made profit selling the lot 25 years ago making money listing and selling the home and making money buying my new home :) Love Real Estate.Now of course all the major US nationals are in the market and they are all vertically integrated they will have their pet Land developer who will find and entitle the dirt then flip the plat . but its hard to bust into that situation and as stated you need some pretty serious financial backing.
