I live in Raleigh but invest in STRs in Western NC (Mars Hill & Burnsville) . 

To briefly comment on Adam's reply above; Oceanside and Carlsbad are good suburban areas that have their eclectic beach community charms (along with del mar for that matter), but they come at the cost of truly being farther away from what makes San Diego Shine.

That in mind, definitely learned a lot from this one, looking forward to doing more in both NoVa and DC!

My partner and I are making an offer on a property in Mars Hill for STR. 

Situation: 2 fam investment property purchased with non-conforming commercial loan, 30yrs fixed @ 5.6% with prepayment penalty (5%-1yr til 5th year being 1%) on Mar 2021.
