Inspections are required when sold, (technically a different inspection - but it's the same cost and qualifies at the rental inspection, even done by a different person than the rental inspection [or was before they outsourced the inspections {more corruption - another story}}), before a new tenant moves in (never hold up a move in because of the inspection, not being done. as long as you have called in- that was the quote from the city council when they started this BS program), or every 2 years from the last inspection.

You could do a live-in flip with a single family residence ... and learn to do some of the work yourself, and/or outsource the rest to a contractor.
