Second, you have created an obstruction on the roof that forces a harder flow of water around it, so you want to make sure the surrounding roof has some added precaution, especially if your roof is a low-slope (say 4:12 pitch or so)If I were putting in a skylight, with no roof on the house, I would have the rubberized ice-dam sheeting product on the roof immediately surrounding the skylights so that the heavier flow of water around the skylight has no opportunity of getting underneath and leaking through anywhere.
