I don't know how it is in Texas but here in Baltimore it's much cheaper to own a house than to rent if you can just get in...even with all the reserve funds required if something goes wrong.I don't know how big you family is/number of kids, but you can always consider looking for a single family house that has a basement unit or a basement with a separate entrance that can be reconfigured into a separate unit.

.- Also for 3-4 units if you  have common entrance (meaning that access to at least 2 units is through the same main building door)  you have to have common electric meeter for those common areas that you will be paying for.

My rental was a probate 1200sf 2/1 with unfinished basement with its own entrance in the lakes region.I finished the basement as a second unit and separated the two spaces.

The kitchen is a very small room - 10x9 - with the refrigerator and stove currently on the far wall with the clock - that door is the back entrance, the sink and one side cabinet on the left wall, and a relatively small walk-in pantry behind that radiator.

You need to go back to the clerk and fill out another form called a "writ" and pay another fee6) The Sheriff will call you within 30 days to schedule an eviction date7) Show up to the eviction and change the deadbolts to exterior entrances and they may have 24 hours to get their things8) After 24 hours, put stuff to the curb or take it to the landfill and then get the room or property ready for your next tenantNote: if you collect any rent after you put the notice on the door then you will want to give them a receipt and keep a copy for yourself that includes the words "with reservation" and also bring that to court
