I see that as an asset, not a disadvantage. 

Condos in and of themselves have unique advantages and disadvantages that you'll have to research.

Being at the point of closing and not having the GC / no GC question answered and if no GC who you will use as subs puts you at a disadvantage out of the blocks.

That turned out to be a good bit of work for me.I don't see any disadvantage to a 2nd/HELOC other than the risk that it might fall through.  

It is totally unethical on top of that to reveal what should be kept confidential that creates such a disadvantage for the client. 

I see more advantages than disadvantages of diversifying real property out side of one's area.

I haven't called him back yet, but will, to try and find out more.....BUT, the first would seem the biggest stumbling block.I did a lot of negotiations in a prior life, including as a settlement conference judge and mediator, and was pretty successful in getting people to recognize the financial disadvantages of not resolving their disputes instead of going forward (in those days, to jury trials), but the lawyer for this lender seems uninterested. 

The only advantage that quickly comes to mind is being able to view properties that are vacant.A possible disadvantage is that the if you are selling your own property, your broker will be legally responsible and will want to charge enough to more than cover the risk or may not want you to be under him.
