I would think renovation costs get reimbursed upon a sale of a property, but with some of the things I have seen people talk about online, and elsewhere, just wondered if there was a way to claim the new property somehow to write off all the expenses on my taxes next year.

A rental wouldn't be commercial, but it sounds like it wouldn't be covered because I wouldn't be living in the same residence where the carpet was installed.Or, if the tenant paid for the carpeting and you reimbursed me for the carpeting, the warranty would only apply insofar as long as the tenant stayed there and wouldn't be transferable to the owner or to the next tenant.Thanks everybody for this help.

Some of the water companies won't let you put it in a tenant's name, and for those, you will get the bill and have the tenant reimburse you.
