@Nathan G. for investors that want to purchase an STR in a tropical (US) location, do you know of any alternatives that are more STR friendly?

Something she would readily grasp and provide a different perspective such as: making these sacrifices now will allow us to have money later so we can go on those awesome tropical beach or European vacations.

Right now Tropical Countries don't seem to be getting hit, but that may be due to lack of test kits.

I grew up in SF Bay Area and was a surfer in Santa Cruz, but, I love the Tropics.

I could also try planting various tropical fruit trees there where it would not work here in the Bay Area.

@James Hart I love your idea, it's the kind of thing I'd love to do as well, except maybe with bamboo houses on acreage somewhere tropical.  

I maintain a home warranty for the appliances and the home owners insurance has been used to cover an almost $30k water, mold repair exposed by the last major tropical storm that occurred as my tenants live there.

To add to that, the air quality test and duct swabs would have to equate to levels (of the TOXIC kind) far higher than what naturally occurs in Florida's tropical climate.
