Ours is a 2800 4 br sleeps 12, very nice home in a pool community, deeded beach, and beach shuttle.  

They are almost always not as comfortable, and nobody looks forward to sleeping on one. 

People sleep on the West End of the city. 

Exactly what @John Underwood and @Collin H. said.A place that will sleep 10 will also sleep 8.

But it really is whatever makes you sleep at night. 

Almost no one likes to sleep on a day bed - they just aren't very comfortable - so all you end up gaining is extra, unused floor space.

going off of low sleep and answering forum posts is not a good recipe. 

For example, the master bedroom better have a great mattress bc that's where the person who books the stay will be sleeping.

I originally thought I had to occupy one of the rooms (it being owner-occupied), but I've heard people say that they were in the same situation and would just sleep on the couch.
