Or get cheaper cabinets but then add in some of the accessories, i.e. pull out shelves, no slame hinges, etc...Some higher end MDF the average person can't tell it's not real wood.I NEVER go to boutique, specailized stores for anything as they are always higher.

That bad enough... but its totally something else for that same criminal to go to a court and sue you to change your door locks, because he feels its too much work breaking in.... you enable enough people to knowingly and deliberately commit crimes and at some point you are liable to face criminal charges as an accomplice or accessory.

Asking the seller to vacate unit has to be taken on a case by case basis.I agree that you should also attempt to turn the illegal unit on the property into a negotiation advantage for you.I too dealt with illegal unit issue (accessory dwelling unit) when I first started hunting for multi units to buy.
