I am really not looking for speeches on how great real estate is and how you get lower returns in the stock market or problems with insurance policies etc, but more of the question when is it better or is it ever better to put money in those other accounts versus always funneling every penny into real estate and real estate will take care of all your problems from paying for your children's education, to securing retirement, to estate planning, etc.Thanks. 

@David DachteraThis will just have to be another thing about which we agree to disagree - isn't freedom of thought and speech wonderful - as we have hijacked Branden's thread more than enough.

In a couple weeks, I'll be pulling about 14, 16" x 16' steel roof trusses, not really looking forward to it. 

While the specific answer will probably depend on local building codes, what my city building inspector had me do was to first apply a 3/4" plywood substructure and then a 5/8" FireX drywall to each side of the truss.

If you have a truss roof, it may not be (though the truss may have been designed to need support).
