I guess I mean based on th culture of the city if that makes sense.  

If you want to be a part of the culture you've got to get in the culture. 

Lawsuit culture in this country is out of control.

The sole exception may be if you're renting to a tenant who is just so old (or otherwise culturally disconnected) that they don't use digital platforms, and getting them to do so would be more work than the benefit would be worth.In my observation, hardly anybody under 30 uses checks anymore except where the government (or their old-fashioned landlord) requires them to.

I was sympathetic to their plight around Christmas, and that they are not originally from a western culture.

If you genuinely feel bad then take money out of your own pocket and give it to them as charity but lets not further perpetuate the culture of entitlement that pervades much of this country. 

I'm not sure how much the system itself is to blame vs. our own cultural expectations and ways of interacting with it (in general - not specific to AirBNB).  

I am extremely proud of our diverse and substantial multi-cultural employee and subcontractor base of staff.

It's not speculation - it's a shortage of land (and thus housing) in an area that is desirable to live due to weather, culture, etc. with a highly skilled and well-paid workforce.
