Neither one of those projects needed the outside dug up or the foundation to be rebuild so some issues may cost a lot more than what I paid for mine.

I'm a buy/hold investor and rehabber, and I just "hand shook" on a deal to restore my brother's property and help him rebuild his retirement income/legacy to his children.

I want to get a better idea of when to consider teardown/rebuild versus rehab/renovate.  

There are two renovation options I am looking into, one is an interior renovation another is a complete demolish and rebuild.

As I am not going to give it away or desperate to sell it.But I am using CWS Aria Series Windows, My brothers are running tile throughout the house and rebuilding the two bathroom.  

Oh, and I had to cut out a section of exterior wall and rebuild it because of severe water damage caused by a DIY tub surround) - I should have just build a new house. 

Since that day I have been rebuilding my life the way I should have done from the start.

Some insurance companies will only quote you the rebuild value of the property ( if the place burns down in fire cost to rebuild) others will allow you to state the value or dollar amount you want the property covered for.
