My spouse is an attorney and tried to fight a city on mandatory rental inspections, one of the claims was that it didn't give renters the same right to privacy as homeowners, but it didn't fly.

I think you (Joshua) tried to hit a homerun of a deal by buying a nice secluded lot for next to nothing and in essence "own" the entire wooded area as your personal playground/privacy fence.
