Since SS# and EIN# were mentioned in the post, I wanted to clarify to readers that a lender requesting SS# or EIN# shouldn't be a cause for concern because it's necessary... not that it's necessarily required prior to the loan, but that it will be a necessary piece of information for the lender.For simplicity, I stated that sole proprietors and LLCs (as pass through entities) should receive a 1098 from a lender.
