Because of that I cannot transfer the properties to an LLC or sell them because these options would have a negative effect on my Japanese taxes.But I can refinance them (rate and term or cash out), I can get a HELOC and I can pay off the mortgages (this would free up Fannie/Freddie loan slots).

Or a local union offers you a slot and they offer you a training wage of $14/hr mixed between classroom and job-sites.

@Daniel Graves Architects, especially in cities with housing shortages have gotten pretty knowledgeable about ADU's and DADU's.

Strip clubs renting time slots to exotic dancers. ( Don't judge me, A girl has to pay off her student debt somehow !

I also have a drop slot in my building for checks, and allow tenants to drop the payment off at the bank if they want.

We're approaching that phase since we have 8 conventional loans and are keeping one slot open for a  new personal residence.
