But it is my understanding from these companies that a landlord policy does not cover STR or any renters under 30/60/120 days depending on who you talk to.

If you are working with a reputable company, then you buy the property, hold the property and look up 7-10 years down the road and have a home that has increased in value and a debt that has been reduced by your renter.   

There will always be some uncontrollable variables because you’re dealing with both the human element with renters and houses are basically living creatures themselves and it’s not always possible to predict when big expenses will arise.
