At your age I lived in 6 different states and found out that I could literally live anywhere, if you're of a similar mindset then I would start with a high-paying job in real estate, then invest in that area by house hacking. 

For drain lines buried in the ground, which are expensive to dig up and replace, why would I dig up a 50 year old line to replace it when it might literally last another 100 years!

There is literally nothing you can do when you are on the other side of the country.
