I personally was out there gathering information and documents regarding raw Oceanfront property (with permits in place for Hotel Casino and Resort), Acreage for agriculture development (Puerto Rico is blessed with very Fertile Soil), some shopping centers in urban areas and 2 private islands that a broker wants me to help him market here in the States.

Since my mentor value time more than money they require you to sacrifice some of that thing that you treasure most, which is money.

Sell stuff on craigslist, get a loan against a car you own (if you have enough room on DTI), go to a casino....

The house was an as-is deal and has all the family treasures left behind.  

I have been running into for the past year homes I find vacant/abandoned, know home is a good rehab project, find out who the owner is (assessors site) plus viewed treasurer site to see who is "paying" the taxes currently and after all that work to the point I actually find this owner is, the owner tells me he/she "let the home go into default" or just walked away from the home with a outstanding balance owed to the lender. 

That's a nice coastal area with CBC and Keesler nearby; the casinos don't hurt either.

They go to treasurer's site to get current owner name and mailing address.

I agree it's like the hidden treasure of America. 

@Jon Ree and @Stone Jin, It is almost like a treasure hunt when you buy a house with a bunch of stuff in it.
