A very simple (effective, but not attractive) solution to the sump pump (in a situation where you don't have just a cascade of water coming in) -5gal bucket with the bottom mostly cut out (leave a bit of a lip)Automatic sump pump2 bags pea gravel1 bag sandPVC pipe to run out of the crawl space from the sump pumpDig a hole 8-10" larger in diameter than your bucket and about 8-10" deeper than the bucket.Fill the bottom 4" or so with sand, then the next 4-6" with gravel.Set the bucket on top of the gravel, and fill around the bucket with more gravel (Bucket should be empty but for maybe an inch or so of gravel on the lip holding it down)Set the sump pump in the bucket and run the pipe out of the crawl space. This setup will catch and pump an AMAZING amount of water.
