You only run into trouble if the other person has “an expectation of privacy”.

They can reduce the profitability for a tenant.This happened to me today:  Tenant requested a privacy fence to be constructed along the longest side of the property. 

I watched a neighbor put up a beautiful 6’ privacy fence and hoped the contractor would put up a sign.

There is generally no expectation of privacy in public spaces, but do check your laws.

It has been our experience that many/most tenants for SFHs are looking for the privacy of not having a common wall.Again, our observed exception to this is the "universityville" student house, where there is no rent loss in the main house if the basement is rented separately.

I strikes me as odd that they are unwilling to use a disinterested third party like closing/title company.For the record, I would gladly speak to anyone who has used this company, but when I asked for references I was told no due to privacy reasons.

If you're concerned about privacy and want to make the owner(s) of the LLC hard to find, use a New Mexico LLC.

That seems like such an invasion of privacy, but I suppose it's a good idea.
