I used to be a tenant, and any such gift would for me at that time have been a slap in the face, a coldly calculated gesture designed to manipulate me into feeling better about being overcharged for rent.

The thing you should read up on is Fair Housing Laws and just make sure you don't illegally discriminate.Even you just do it for a bit, and get some experience with management, it will help you to better manage the managers, unless you are lucky enough to get a top notch manager that is reasonably priced and not overcharging you for maintenance.Best of luck!

Now if the company overcharges you then who cares but if you get a solid deal and then have to pay half then your benefits come from what you plan to do with the home.

I have a question, do all brokers do this to agents, I understand the 50/50 split (like when the agent splits it with the broker and the broker takes half, but do brokers charge extra/overcharge the agent (I also heard of a broker charging a $500 security deposit fee to an agent when they join, I thought it was only charged to renters) ?
