Monday and Tuesday will be heavy networking and seminars.  

Crash or no crash the best investors will prosper as always and those who are not as cash heavy or as connected will fall off or leave the industry. 

Has anyone ever bought a piece of heavy equipment like an excavator or a Bobcat as a means to save money because you kept having to rent them for projects?

I suspect they were talking about difficult turnovers with problematic renters, bigger repairs, heavy cleaning, maybe some missing rent, and longer vacancies. 

Getting a tenant isn't an overnight thing, you may have repairs to make before getting one, so it could be a few months of paying double before you see any income generated from your househack. 

It’s probably a little heavy in RE (according to my Financial Advisor), but annuities, insurance, 401k, gold, ESPP, and have a Day Trading account that is performing at 66% this year are all part of the mix.

It's not a panacea and it's not for everyone but for the really outgoing who want to get with people to do deals and don't need heavy defined how-to-content will get way more value than the cost.
