Do as much on the front end before they move to the area so when they get on the ground they can move quickly as most soldiers only have 10 days of paid-for hotel before the military expects them to have a place found and purchased.

Soldiers might get a boost in pay while deployed, depending on where we are and our individual circumstances (you wouldn't get combat pay in Kuwait, some people get family separation pay if they are married, etc.), but it usually doesn't come anywhere close to BAH.  

The broad SSgt tier is my preferred tenant, whereas the bottom tier of new-from-basic training sailor, airman, soldier does not have life experience to take care of my properties, money or ability to pay my rents.
