To answer your question: in theory, you can rent any place for any amount you want and can disqualify people for any reason so long as it's not a protected class (race, religion, etc).

As long as you are correctly informing your custodian and they are preparing your IRA reports accurately, the rest is just interesting cocktail conversation like religion and politics where everyone has an opinion and few people change their minds.
