SUN"Google translate must be broken.

Not sure if that's allowed.Otherwise, is there any type of expense that would translate into enough of a deduction to make it worth it? 

Landlord says translation is $500 and won't pay it and denies application.  

Here, if materials are to be translated into a language other than one of Canada's official languages, the application would/could be require to pay for the translation.  

They want to rent it.They speak very little English, but have a friend that can translate.

If the problem is really bad, I would be willing to say consider a "car wash allowance" of say $10 a week which translates to say $40 a month of rent reduction...to me is easier than a car frame or self car washing.Speaking of particular tenants, I once had one who complained that her cell reception while inside is 2 bars instead of 4 bars as if this is something I have any control over. 

A translator is one thing, a bossy brother or mother (lord help you) is another.And when an applicant doesn't even ask about parking or wants to see the bedroom or how big the closet is - something's really wrong.  

You'd get more applicants, and hopefully that would translated into more desirable applicants.
