I feel, unless you truly detest your current work/life balance, or it has been you dream to be a part of REI, you will find it very difficult, if not impossible to build greater wealth from your position without significant risks and distribution to the stable family life you likely already have.You are not going to make compatible money from REI in the next few years.

If I directly hold rental properties under the 401k, and only use this account for operating activities, I need to be able to send out wires for property earnest money and down payments, and also provide the account number to my property manager if I need to make a contribution or if they give me monthly rental distributions.

I've only come across a couple 401k plans that allow you to carry the loan and continue making payments after you're no longer employed with that same employer.If you don't repay the loan, then it's counted as an early distribution.
