Consequently, most didn't and people who were already in financial straits found themselves out $1,000 as well.

Rare indeed is the hard working, responsible, upstanding person in dire need to sell their train-wreck of a house. 

I am not from California but find this to be one of the most dire situations today, not just for California but for our country.  

But if your neighborhood will support that size house, and it fits with your philosophy of offering good homes in the lower strata, I applaud you - most communities have a dire need for affordable housing.
