You want a surgeon that specializes in the kind of surgery you need, not a general practitioner.

The plan right now is to learn as much as possible and then in 2018, quit my job (my wife will be a Nurse practitioner, allowing me to do this) house hack a 3-4 family and jump in with both feet into investing/flipping in New Bedford.

Do you have a community of practitioners for support, or is it just you? 

I am trying to speak to a few CPAs on this but would value input from this group of practitioners as well. 

The only slight modification to your strategy versus the typical brrrr practitioner is that you'd have to get a conventional/home mortgage at the refinance stage.
