In regards to @Jefferson Miner 's concerns, a bigger danger that many did in the last boom was count on appreciation rather than cash flow when looking at financing repayment.

You can see how slowly, over 100+++ years the democrats have inch by inch changed these once booming and magnificent metropolis into a welfare dependant state, with the mentality of the people changed over time to give up their liberty and freedoms for a handout, all in concert with the corrupt education system and its left wing teachers to indoctrinate the sheeple into the global community.

But again, who knows if this will be there in 6 months.Basically I've lived in Indiana my whole life, and it's not exactly a thriving metropolis for a 28 year old single guy who still likes to have fun, isn't interested in a family, and hates cold weather.

If you want to be a little further out, but in the city, consider along the river/Jefferson Ave, EEV, Rosedale, parts of Hamtramck or West Village.

There is an area just south of Jefferson off of Ravinia that has some very nice homes.
