Is that false sales pitch actually lucrative for them, or is this just a case of the people pitching the idea also being confused/mistaken?

Okay, so just to put this into my own words (and please correct me if I'm mistaken),,, You have two groups of people: GROUP A - Doesn't have any Homevestors resources behind them - May or may not be capitalized - May or may not be motivated - May or may not be educated - May or may not be serious about investing - May or may not understand the realities of how the industry works - May or may not have reasonanble expectations for success GROUP B - Has the full weight of the Homevestors brand and resources behind them - Has access to capital - Is motivated - Is educated - Is serious about investing - Understands the realities of how the industry works - Has reasonable expectations for success (I assume all of the above are part of the standard vetting process Homevestors does before taking on a franchisee) Now, your claim is that Group A has a failure rate of 97% and that Group B has a failure rate of 5%.

A lot of laws allowing seizure are appalling in the power they give officers and departments and by and large are ignored because people/ judges appear to have the opinion that "if you're dumb enough to lend your car/house/airplane to a drug user you deserve what you get" or "if you're mistaken for a drug dealer there's probably something fishy going on because innocent people don't just get mistaken like that".Not all police departments will take advantage of a person, but some do and it's those few that tarnish the reputation of cops in general.

For instance, we don't have a dog, but if you could see my FB pictures (you can't, but if you could) you'd see me playing with dogs in a house that could be mistaken for my previous one.

@Matt Faix I may be mistaken, since this isn't my expertise, but I believe you can get some relief on you taxes for the loss.

So I looked, it appears they simply dropped part of the name, perhaps mistakenly.
