So when I'm reviewing screening reports for my rentals, I like to find out the story behind an eviction - I've had good tenants with evictions on their records who never bothered to expunge their eviction from the record when they had a prior vindictive landlord (yes, such landlords do exist and give the rest of us a bad name). 

I'm looking for likeminded, hopefully already successful individuals, who would like to chat and share stories about the opportunities and ways of working in RE here in Portugal.Any meetups happening in Lisbon, remote- or on-site?

I found an article on him and there has never been a success story. 

At that point I dont know investing would make any sense, I have heard scary stories I was thinking about short term rentals but that needs constant cleaning after guests and conpetition is very high my friend spent almost 200k out of pockets to buy a property for airbnb and he got 17 bookings per year....

I’m all ears for any guidance, recommended reads, or war stories from those who’ve been down this path.

You mentioned Midwest is what the research is pointing but I believe that is half the story.

There are some that are great for sure, but I have currently heard terrible stories about people putting money in the last 2-3 years and losing it all, capital calls and losing the whole deal due to bad bridge loans (some coming do very soon). 

I also heard horrible stories that if you don't file it right, it will take months to evict a tenant, etc.
