The house is wired this way because they furred out the walls and could only fit a short 1 gang box on the furring strips.

@Greg Junge I don't think finding the deal, "finding" the PM, and opening a bank account would justify much of a % split in comparison to your partner actually putting down 25% hard cash ($30k/$120k from your hypothetical).
