I think that is too much worry, but all in one complex is really lacking diversification in every sense of the word.

Diversification is important when you are trying to preserve wealth.

Having investments in real assets, like houses and gold, will be very lucrative in that environment.That said, I believe in diversification.

I do worry about diversification though and who knows when section 8 might get cut deeply.

I won't bore everyone with what I have posted many times before as far as what the retirement asset ratio should look like in my opinion.Jason – I also agree with your comment with regards to diversification and I would look at that as not only diversifying your areas but also diversifying the types of properties that you own.

But, most sophisticated long term investors only allocate small portions (less than 5%) of their portfolio to these low (or negative) expected return assets in exchange for their diversification and downside risk benefits.Now, multi-family housing and storage units are a little different.

And william I combat your fears as I described above, diversification of owning a large based index fund (S&P 500).

On top of that, if you are still an active employee with the company that offers the 401k, you may not even be able to withdraw the money and have to rely on just taking a loan from it.That being said, I always tell people it's all about diversification.

And that is not a true diversification.
