US Tax law is based on citizenship, not residency, you face the risk of double taxation if your foreign country of choice does not operate a double taxation treaty with the US.

I am wondering if i would need to either obtain work visa authorization to travel to Canada and maintain the properties, or if there would be some way to gain citizenship/permanent residency through these investments.

Like preferably Citizenship but at the very least a permanent resident status.

So it depends on where your dream takes you....where you have citizenship and who you marry and where they have citizenship.

@Lisa Mauritis be careful if you and/or your boyfriend are planning to renovate these properties yourself...actually, unless one of you has US citizenship or some other status, just don't do it!

I have citizenship so the ability to own isn't my problem - it's finding a deal!

I want to invest in the U.S and just wanted to know that do you need to get U.S citizenship to rent or flip a property in the U.S?

Even immigrants are allowed to enter, regardless of whether they have U.S. citizenship or if they hold a job, as long as they follow the path of Jesus.Makes me wonder how self-described Christians reconcile their goal to live up to the standards of Jesus but then are happy to let the poor, the lazy and the immigrants suffer.I'm not at all religious, so I don't know the answer.
