Generally, I quite agree that real estate investment and rental are probably the best way to invest, especially during this global recession.However, I’ll tell you a story from personal experience which may make you pause before buying an investment property and particularly before renting it out to someone you’ve never met.I bought my investment property a little over a year ago and did a lot of remodeling before putting it on the rental market, using the same real estate agency to find renters that helped me purchase this townhouse.

In my opinion its not a matter of how sustainable Texas economic growth is (it will slow down at some point), its more of a question of how insulated is the state's economy from national and global market conditions and for Texas, the answer is very insulated relative to other places in the US.
