In order to network with wholesalers and lenders the best way to go about it will be to attend the local REIA like The Greater Houston REIA and also joining the local investors facebook groups. 

Stick to areas with better soil conditions like Frisco, McKinney, and Rockwall, and network with local investors to learn from their experiences.

Definitely stay away from the guru/seminars crowd and stick with the organic communities like BP and local free meetups.
