That can in-turn mean lay-offs, but I don't see any lay-offs above and beyond normal market churn for the Bay Area.

I'm prepared for things to change, for better (raise, new job) or worse (layoffs, saving less than anticipated ).My main takeaway from writing this down is that although I love the house I'm buying, I know it can be a stepping stone to greater things and financial security I'm luckily starting fairly young so my risk tolerance is still high :).For numbers I'm making 19k per year.

If the economy tanks and Disney World and other Orlando parks are half-empty due to a tourism crash, I would think there could be big layoffs affecting rental demand in the Orlando area (unemployed people who can't find work in the area will tend to leave town). 4.

I could HELOC my home then get hit by a bird square in the face and Be blinded for life then fall and break my arms resulting in inability to work...then lets say the two big employers around my town go under and bam I need four new roofs three ACs  and renters are sparse cuz of lay offs....
