I agree that one of the uses of cookies is to identify and preserve the "state" of the browser session, so that proper use of cookies could solve that issue nicely.

My day job has me tracking this on our website on a weekly basis and we've see a regular uptick in the number of mobile browsers; especially over the past 6-9 months.I don't think I can post URLs but if you Google ipadpeek you can see what your site looks like on the new iPad.
