Some of those beach houses are inches away from the water now or even in the water, when they were hundreds of feet from the water when built.Those ones right up on the water are like $480k for a 5 BR house on the beach. 

For example, I have a brick building that has 1/2 inch furring strips screwed into the brick, thick wire mesh attached to the furring strips, and at least half an inch of plaster (not drywall) sprayed onto the wire mesh.So you can't use the walls for running anything, and my electrical conduit actually runs on the floor joists, with the subfloor fitted around the conduit.

Came out of the dryer with wrinkles on every square inch.

If you're more than a quarter inch deviance over 8ft than level the subfloor.

@Michael ClantonThat definitely makes sense Michael.With butcher blocks we can get 8 ft x 36 inches for $250, after we treat it the price doesn't go up that much.It looks very sharp and high end and its extremely inexpensive.Granite is beautiful though, thanks for the help.

But generally you can rent an adjustable metal pier at Home Depot, raise the beam a few inches, remove the bad pier and insert the new one.

Yesterday I had an inspection where I had to move two already approved of detector locations, one needed to move down 2 inches and another had to move to a different wall because it "looked" like it was more than 15 feet away in a 12 foot wide room.

With the addition of more and more homes on the supply side and the interest rates inching toward 10% the price points should be on the decline.

Its nice because they can make the windows any size you want at a standard price for up to 101 unit inches ( width +height)

To preface things, when I started reading this thread I thought "wow, what's this guy's deal, no chance he would ever get through my screeners", and honestly that's still true, the attitude expressed here would get you stopped at the first gates and not a chance of an inch further.
