This part is definitely NOT a DIY project.You may also need to paint depending on how thick the smoke is and the type & condition of the painted surfaces.

My understanding is that thickness would need to be higher on straw and without treatment, you have fire or mold issues to be concerned with.

I have thick skin with 30 plus years in outside sales, it's the principle behind it.I hope this reaches you Jay that you and your wife are doing awesome!

@Steve Morris in the beginning yes it’s terrible but after you get a thick skin and get better at it’s a great tool I just wanted to see if anything had changed when I was out of the sales game.

I would develop very thick shin, and leave your emotions at home, almost become a robot when it comes to dealing with tenants and becoming a landlord.

@MarieChele PorterThis could be as simple as uneven underlay, or 2 different subfloor thicknesses used and to lazy to correct it.

No issues with cheap thin paint or expensive thick paint.

What thickness should I get?

The land is very flat, it was thick with cedar but we have it cleared down to roughly about 10 acres left uncleared.

You'd want an extra thick sand layer to prevent telegraphing--like 2 inches?
