Often residents of "not so good" are more helpful and considerate than people living in the top neighborhoods who want the world to know how special and entitled they are.Try to pay attention to who your neighbors will be and what type of traffic goes through the neighborhood.From a strictly investment standpoint, in Silicon Valley, lower rated neighborhoods and lower rated homes tend to have more volatile prices.

Some areas like Silicon Valley have published reports available (Silicon Valley Institute for Regional Studies) which I suspect sell info to local companies.

After home prices have shot thru 1M for a modest home in Silicon Valley.  

I'm going to use the term "Silicon Valley" right now just to increase the probability that some software engineer who wants to be a millionaire reads your post & decides they want to fix the mortgage industry. 

Careful in your selection as stains that are silane based (silicon) typically do not breath.I have seen the face of brick and the entire front wall of CMU 'popped' off an elevation due to sealing the exterior of a cavity wall system.My suggestion is to hire an expert such as an architect, building systems engineer or such to give a recommendation on how your wall systems were designed to function.

In Silicon Valley writing your own offers might not be worth your time.

Charleston was voted one of the top vacation destinations in the world but what those not familiar with it don't know is that it is becoming a manufacturing hub and has been called the next silicon valley because of all the local IT companies.

Quality means they cut a groove into the brick mortar and folded the flashing into the groove, with everything sealed up with silicone/roof sealant.
