Thanks, @Scott Mac, I guess what I was comparing to was RE VS an index fund like VTSAX that's gained 12% a year in the past.

My brothers (who got the same amount) are going the Index Fund / Stock Market route.

If it is 8%, then you should buy an index fund and relax.

Always understand the index, the floor and ceiling rates and the maximum adjustment in any one period. :)

If we take the median family income of just shy of $69k and median home values rising, our housing affordability index is dropping.

Had you put the same money in a general Dow index fund, you'd be looking at about 80-90% return over the same period, with zero work involved.

When you ask most Anericans would they rather have the gas tax indexed to inflation or increase the depreciation life real estate investors can take, I don't have much doubt which one they would choose.Don't think I'll get votes on this post as people don't want to hear this (including me), but it is just my 2 cents on the trend to expect.
