Yes, I would say action on homes over $500K have been slowing down over the last 30 days unless they are in typically high end areas (Hinsdale, Oak Brook, etc). 

I don’t know the rules, but after much consideration we gave our contractor the go-ahead to do it on a remodel of our two story primary residence in Sherman Oaks back in 2004.

For rentals I've had great luck with #2 Red Oak.

But I was born and raised in Escondido so I thought I'd reply  :-)  My parents still live there in the Oak hill area.
