Stable climate, not too hot, plenty of fresh water, no hurricanes, wildfires or earth quakes, a well built out infrasturcture, relativley business friendly, central location and low cost of living - in times of remote work that is a huge incentive for businesses and individuals alike.

Also keep in mind the fact that Haiti and other countries are still suffering badly even after our collective focus and aid to the region has waned.The bone I have to pick in all of this is the aid issue.

I really don't enjoy working with cement and here with the small earthquakes every so often and shifting clay soil it would be higher maintenance.
