The wooden cabinet holding up the sink begins to rot.

My personal residence has a single basin sink and we use a drying rack similar to the one pictured below and never really even considered it a problem

Very nerve-racking for me being my first experience for sure, which is why I posted in the first place.In response to the comment about paying too much, everyone gets wrapped around that.  

Unfortunately we won't have the space for wooden stairs, without losing out on the parking spaces.

You’ll also pay transaction fees disposing the asset, likely in the $40k+ range.I don’t think you have a clear-cut answer here, but you’ll need to rack up all the financial trade-offs to make an informed decision.

It's much easier to rack up  material hours if you are nearby and able to take on some of the timely hands-on work yourself.I imagine that others have tried to do this while OOS investing but I couldn't speak to their success (or lack thereof)

You may not have time to rack when the time comes.

Its a centennial house Back Unit is smaller with Bedrooms up stairs, the living room walls are wooden with open kitchen!

Renting where you live and owning elsewhere may not be traditional, but it makes more intuitive sense to cash flow 10k a year off of a 500k investment oppose to racking up a 3k/month liability off of a 500k investment (primary home). 2.

At this point I would stick it out with insurance, and get renters insurance involved too because you’ve already racked up a big bill.
