If you work with unbanked tenants, I can assume you never checked their credit or the background.

I understand that you're aiming to screen for "financial responsibility" and "doesn't bounce checks", but there are many responsible people who don't have bank accounts (research "the unbanked"), sometimes for personal/family/cultural reasons.

Lenders will be using that monthly payment to calculate your DTI so its extremely important to plan and manage your DTI going forward within your real estate investing strategy otherwise you may find yourself "unbankable."

The government negotiated a deal for a "prepaid debit card" called a Direct Express card with Comerica Bank to provide benefits to "unbanked" recipients on social security, disability, us coast guard retirees, and some others entitled to federal benefits.

A lot of "unbanked" people like and use these cards but they are such a bad deal that the federal goverment negotiated a deal with a bank for the "Direct Express" card for the receipt of government benefits but unfortunately it DOES NOT permit ACH debit transactions.

Are they "unbankable" or just not salaried?
